2025: Innovation and Sustainability in Facility Services

In 2025, the facility services sector will face significant challenges. The development of the industry will be primarily driven by such key factors as labour shortages, employee training, innovation, and energy efficiency. It will be crucial to focus on increasing turnover while maintaining high service quality.

According to Stell’s CEO Mikk Sillamaa, the facility services sector is directly influenced by Estonia’s overall economic situation: “The economic forecast of the Bank of Estonia, according to which the economy will return to growth, is optimistic.” At the same time, Sillamaa noted that planned tax increases will impact service costs, which, in turn, will necessitate price adjustments: “Together with our clients, we must find solutions that satisfy both parties.”

The most pressing challenge for the industry remains the chronic labour shortage. As emphasized by Sillamaa and Mergit Inno, the Sales and Marketing Director for the Baltic Countries at SOL Baltics OÜ, employee training and continuous professional development are becoming increasingly important. To address this, Stell has established a training and competence centre to enhance the skills of its own employees and other industry professionals. To ensure high-quality services, Stell trains both cleaning staff and property managers.

For Stell, innovation is vital in addressing labour shortages and improving the quality of services. The company has launched collaborative projects to test the use of robots in property maintenance processes. While this technology still requires further development, it is seen as an important future solution that can improve the overall efficiency of the sector.

Energy efficiency and sustainability

In 2025, energy efficiency and sustainable building management will become even more significant. The European Union’s ambitious goals for reducing energy consumption and minimizing waste also shape the activities of the facility services sector.

Stell AS has created a dedicated energy efficiency team tasked with offering clients comprehensive solutions, including energy efficiency consulting, energy analyses for buildings, energy modelling, and energy certification. “This is a vital area where we can contribute to sustainable building management and be a partner to our clients in meeting ESG requirements,” Sillamaa emphasized.

Future-oriented approach

In 2025, facility services companies, including Stell, will face the necessity of adopting innovations to meet the market’s growing expectations. New technologies, training, and energy efficiency will be key factors shaping the industry’s development and ensuring high-quality and sustainable services. Stell will continue its commitment to innovation and partnership, offering solutions that meet the needs of both today and tomorrow.
